Speaking on Radio Jambo Wednesday, Nyikal claimed that Ruto who has been avoiding political discussions lately has left the job to his allies.

He termed the same as the reason behind continued political activeness among the DP's allies, some of whom have gone ahead to endorse his bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta who is nearing retirement despite his own calls for them to shun the same.

"Ruto is now using the people around him to endorse his 2022 ambitions. Whatever is being said by people around him regarding his Presidential bid is his own words," said the lawmaker.

He, however, urged the leader to not shy away from openly endorsing himself, saying that he has every right to do it.

"He has every right to boost his bid but should not attack others or rubbish other people's views and opinions, for example, the opposition's push for constitutional reforms, in the process," added Nyikal.

This follows the DP's recent achievement at the Coast after a section of opposition leaders led by Kilifi Governor Amason Jeffa Kingi endorsed him for the seat, promising to not only back him but also drum up support for him.

Ruto is likely to vie on the ruling Jubilee Party ticket.
