A Member of Parliament from the Nyanza region has come out to warn leaders over discussing the succession of opposition chief Raila Odinga.
Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi has declared that anyone talking about succeeding Raila Odinga as the Luo leader should be stoned.
Atandi made the remarks after it emerged that controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna was slated to take up the position.
Speaking on Saturday, Atandi said that there was no crisis in the region's top seat and debates on the sucession of Raila shpould be halted.
“Luo martyrs are well-known; Dr Miguna is not one of them. We do not have a crisis in leadership in Nyanza or the opposition and anyone talking about the Odinga succession should be stoned,” Mr Atandi was quoted by the Nation.
His sentiments were echoed by Unguja MP Opiyo Wandayi who stated that the conversationin the country should focus on development and not on the 2022 succession debate.
“Our focus should be taking the country forward in the spirit of the agreement between thecountry’s top leadership and not engage in such debates,” Wandayi conveyed.
Raila is widely expected to quit politics and succession debates have been rife with many stating that lawyer Miguna was rising to take up the position.
