Onyonka said Cord as a whole comprises of the leaders who are greedy and who have a lot of self interest

Onyonka who was in the committee for Defence and Foreign Relations was removed from the house committees after agreeing to accept NYS project in his constituency.

Cord MPs were against the NYS projects in their regions by claiming that they are meant for publicity and a source of siphoning public fund.

“My removal from the committees is because I accepted to have the NYS project in my constituency I want to be clear that the project is not meant for Onyonka but for the benefits of our youths who are suffering out here,” Onyonka said.

“We cannot be in opposition and even refused to take the goodies which are meant to help the youths, NYS has been there even before the Jubilee government it is only that Jubilee has strengthened the project, despite the challenges which were facing the project was revived and we had to accept it to help our youths," Onyonka added.

"I remember I was summoned before the Cord committee and asked to stop taking the NYS offer or risk losing my committee membership but I went ahead and told the committee that I would rather miss the allowances than seeing the youths of my constituency suffering,” Onyonka said.

"Right now we have more than 1000 youths working under the NYS project they are earning and saving this is a better move to help the youths rather than coming home on weekends to give them 100 shillings which cannot do them any good," he added.
