Kisumu East Member of Parliament Shakeel Shabir has denied claims of undermining county Governor Jack Ranguma.
The legislator also denied claims by a section of the county leadership and residents that he is planning to vie for the gubernatorial seat come 2017 general elections.
Speaking on Sunday during a fundraiser at Kibos PAG church, Shabir challenged his critics to stop mudslinging him and let him serve his constituents.
He said that he has been aware of the rumours going round that he was seeking to succeed Ranguma come the next general elections.
“I am very comfortable with my current position in the county and will defend this seat in the next general elections,” he said.
“Those who are busy running around with my name are only out to create a leadership and political rift between the governor and I,” he added.
The legislator also challenged Governor Ranguma to choose smart and brilliant advisors and consultants for unity and development to prosper in Kisumu.
“As a governor, you cannot just listen to anybody who comes to you in the name of offering advisory or consultation. Ranguam must choose the people around him if he is really serious with his role in the county,” said Shabir.
The legislator said that he will continue with his donations to the less fortunate irrespective of what his critics say.
