South Mugirango MP Manson Nyamweya had a day to forget after angry perceived ODM supporters forced him out of stage on what they termed as ‘undermining’ Kisii Governor James Ongwae.

Nyamweya, a second term MP, will be running for governorship on a Kenya National Congress ticket in August.

Trouble begun when Nyamweya refused to recognize the presence on Mr. Ongwae, who had also attended the funeral service in South Mugirango.

But angry youths started chanting pro-Ongwae slogans prompting the MP to cut short his speech and hurriedly leave for his safety.

Same fate could also not spare area aspiring MP Sylvanus Osoro, who had decamped from ODM to Nyamweya’s KNC.

“He should give the governor respect that he deserves. It is quite awkward that he can undermine him yet they were both elected,” said Alvin Ombui.

In his address to the gathering however, Ongwae skipped engaging in politics and instead called for peace ahead of elections.

Mr. Nyamweya has often scoffed Ongwae’s performance by accusing him of underdevelopment, corruption and nepotism.
