A member of Parliament from Nakuru County has faulted the Opposition, Cord over its stand on having the IEBC commissioners resign from office arguing it is a ploy to intimidate them.
Speaking during an interview on QTV on Thursday evening, Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri noted that the Cord principals were using uncouth means to frustrate the Jubilee administration, further stating that attacking a constitutionally constituted body was undemocratic.
According to Ngunjiri, Cord is trying to distabilise the peace that the country had nurtured ahead of the 2017 polls, but called on Kenyans not to be swayed into irrelevant demonstrations.
"It's sad that people who are regarded as the official opposition in a democratic setting are engaging in activities we have witnessed in the past few days. Are they aware of the impact of their actions? All Kenyans are watching, and let them be warned that if something nasty happens in 2017, they should ready to take up the responsibility," he added.
The Bahati legislature called on Cord to respect the rule of law and follow the right procedure instead of demonstrating and destabilising peace.
He said their actions are akin to those of a losing team which is not ready to concede defeat arguing that Jubilee was already preparing for a victory come 2017.
Cord has vowed to hold more protests in all the 47 counties starting Monday next week in their quest to push the IEBC commissioners claiming they cannot be trusted in managing the 2017 elections.
