Kikuyu MP Ichungwa Kimani has called on Kenyans not be fooled by OKOA Kenya movement spearheaded by CORD, terming it as waste of time and resources.
Ichungwa said that the issues the Coalition for Reform and Democracy (CORD) are raising are actually genuine, but they can be easily discussed in the parliament comfortably as opposed to referendum.
“Going through OKOA Kenya list of issues CORD is parading is quite obvious, there is a big elephant in the room with opposition since the issue they are raising can be discussed in parliament,” said Ichungwa.
He said that he does not understand their stubborn push for ‘Pesa Mashinani’, despite a gale of resentment even from their villages where masses are tired of corruption.
The MP, who was speaking in Kikuyu town on Wednesday urged Kenyans not to be influenced by leaders who seek political come back, and instead focus on the main issues like combating insecurity.
He asked the people of Kikuyu to come out handy and say no to the OKOA Kenya movement, and focus on national healing of insecurity, which is the main cancer and agenda to be discussed.
He further called on his counterparts in Kiambu County and Kenya in general to focus on development and building the nation which has so many hiccups and referendum will just drag the country to the drain.
The MP however supported the ongoing devolution in Kisumu, saying it has greatly helped Kenya move forward in terms of development, thanks to the new constitution, which CORD leader Raila Odinga helped to pass the bill.
