Speaking when he toured Kiambu Prison on Tuesday, Njomo said that the organisation will use such personnel to address the increasing cases of crime tendencies among the youth.

“Plans are ongoing and experienced mentors are needed to educate the youth inclined to crime,” said Njomo.

The MP also reassured prisoners that they will be welcomed in the society once they have reformed.

The legislator who was accompanied by Ann Mathu, a consultant with National Authority for the Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (Nacada) and a recovering alcoholic, said that the tour was meant to counsel the inmates and to affirm them.

“Being in prison means we want you to build the nation,” said the MP.

Njomo said that the prison is not always meant for the bad people alone but the good people whom the society needs to build the nation.

At the same time, the MP expressed his concerns over the increased crime in the sub county urging the inmates to come out as role models and educate those who have refused to reform or are still under the influence of alcohol and other drugs.

Mathu narrated her past experience as a reformed drug user saying it only takes acceptance and courage to reform.
