Kahangara alleges that bodaboda operators are being attacked by goons who pose as customers.

Speaking to journalists in Lari town on Tuesday , the MP said that security in some parts of the sub county has deteriorated posing danger especially to bodaboda riders.

Kahangara wants the police to increase patrols and hunt down criminals causing havoc in the area.

“I have received several complaints from bodaboda operators and taxi drivers over rising attacks purported on them by criminal gangs who pose as customers and want to urge the police to act,” said the MP.

The Lari lawmaker said that the bodaboda sector will be under threat if security of the riders is not guaranteed.

He said the sector has employed many youths and the government has to guarantee security of the operators.

On Monday  a bodaboda operator was attacked and injured by suspected goons at Nyambare trading centre in Lari.

According to Lari sub county deputy commissioner, Aron Koros, investigations into the claims has been launched.

Koros on Tuesday said that police will intensify patrols and hunt down the criminals.

He asked bodaboda operators to be careful when ferrying customers.

“Bodaboda and taxi operators must be extra vigil and demand information from their customers before ferrying them to curb attack cases,” he told journalists on Tuesday.

The deputy commissioner also urged bodaboda and taxi operators to volunteer information that will lead to the arrest of suspected criminals.

He warned operators colluding with criminals saying that they will be dealt with according to the law.
