The town has been experiencing skirmishes for a long time over its ownership since the introduction of devolved governments and Monday’s running battles led to injuring of two people.

Bosire was trolled on social media by Nyamira residents for allegedly being hell bent on fighting for ownership of the town, claims which he has since dismissed as ‘fictitious and primitive’ during his Thursday’s interaction with us.

“I have heard people say a lot of things about Keroka. Before devolution, people never fought over the border and now the situation is different. It’s untrue to claim that I have done little,” Bosire said.

“The claims that I am doing little to secure the town from intrusion by our Kisii county neighbors are not only primitive but also fictitious,” he added.

According to the ODM Mp, area leadership had agreed on temporary solutions which he says have not been adhered to by employees working as tax collectors from both sides.

“We have sat down as area leaders and even came up with temporary solutions that Nyamira collects 75% of revenue before we find a lasting solution," said the Legislator.

"However, it’s sad that tax collectors from either side are not ready for peace. The government should arrest those who are inciting war against peaceful people,” he said.

He called for tolerance and challenged county leadership from both sides to direct their workers to respect each other.

“We must live in harmony and those workers must be advised to work as a team. Otherwise, everything is under control and as leaders, we can’t allow further escalation of the situation,” he said.

A large section of the town is believed to be in Kitutu Masaba constituency while a small percentage is in Nyaribari Masaba, Kisii County.
