There have been reports in a section of the media that the two leaders from western region were planning a series of rallies barely a week after the ODM party leader Raila Odinga also held rallies in the region.

And during an interview with this reporter on Wednesday, Geni insisted that the region was ‘purely’ ODM, and accused the Ford Kenya leader of ‘dismantling’ unity within the Opposition.

“I don’t see a reason why a member of the coalition where ODM belongs can counter rallies that Raila held in western. These planned rallies are meaningless and desperate attempts to cause more confusion in the Opposition,” he said.

“Wetangula is causing more rifts because the rallies are not in good faith. Just by the mere fact that Raila didn’t invite him to his rallies isn't a justification that he reacts by holds counter rallies. That is equally dismantling the Opposition,” he added.

He challenged the two Luhya leaders to work in harmony with Raila to trounce the Jubilee government in 2017.

“These rifts being caused could hamper the Opposition’s chances of winning the elections. We must play together as a team and desist from playing the cheap politics of revenge because there is no sense for holding rallies in western in the name of unity. Raila’s trip was enough,” he said.

Wetangula had also sparked controversy when he insisted that Raila’s time in politics had expired, and challenged him to support an alternative candidate.
