Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has called on the county government of Nakuru to investigate fraudsters who he claimed are registering integrated internally displaced persons in the county.
According to Ngunjiri, the fraudsters are operating under cover in Nakuru, Molo and Naivasha where they demand Sh10,000 -Sh20,000 from the IDPs with promises of receiving compensation from the government.
‘We are aware of a few individuals claiming to be commissioned by the government to register IDPs for compensation while demanding money in return. This is a crime and therefore security agencies in this county should investigate and bring these people to book,’ stated the Bahati legislature in Nakuru on Wednesday.
He also refuted such plans by the government of forming a commission to register IDPs for compensation in exchange for payment.
‘The government has no such programme and those claiming to be acting on behalf of the government in the fake registration exercise for integrated IDPs should be arrested and charged according to the law’ he added.
