The Wajir East leadership is concerned over the increasing number of candidates who do not qualify to study in higher learning institutions.
Wajir East MP Rashid Kassim, who held talks with all heads of secondary and primary schools as well as TSC representatives, hopes the efforts will bare fruits.
“Knowing that education is a key indicator in the development of the society, so I organized this to ensure we improve the education standards in the constituency,” he said as quoted by KTN.
The MP, who campaigned on a free secondary education for his constituents, said he is ready to work with all education stakeholders to improve the exam performance in the area schools.
Besides the performance, the MP plans on having all the students in last year’s KCSE who failed to qualify for university to join polytechnics, Diploma College, and other tertiary institutions.
“Out of the 1,500 students that did their KCSE last year, barely 50 can be able to make it to university, we have about 1,450 that needs direction, we need to guide them on this,” he added.
The conditions in the Northern constituency are harsh, contributing to the low number of students enrolling for KCPE and KCSE.
