Speaking to this writer, the MP asked the government to take lives of Kenyans seriously, by ensuring everyone is safe.

“We must be assured of our security because terrorists have invaded our country. It is the government's prerogative to ensure every Kenyan is protected,” said Nyamweya.

However, the legislator supported the training and deployment of more security officers as directed by President Kenyatta, to deal with insecurity in the country.

“I support the president's directive that the 10,000 youths who were recruited and scheduled to start training on October last year before the court temporarily stopped the training, be trained so that security can be beefed up in our country,” he added.

The training of the officers was suspended after allegations emerged that the recruiting exercise was marred with irregularities.

Nyamweya has also condoled those families who lost their loved ones in the Garissa University massacre that left 152 students dead and scores injured.

He has on the other hand asked Kisii residents to be vigilant and report any person they suspect to be having links with terrorists.
