Odinga who led thousands of his supporters at the historical Uhuru Park grounds vowed to continue with weekly demos against the commission till the government succumbs to structured dialogue.

Mr Charles Geni of North Mugirango said Odinga’s sentiments represented ‘feelings’ of many Kenyans who wants reforms in the electoral body.

“There is nothing wrong with his statements (about weekly protests) because he represents views of many Kenyans. He is not a person that someone can ignore and that is where the government is messing,” he said.

“Raila doesn’t just wake up from his home and starts to shout. He consults widely with many disgruntled people and comes up with facts. It’s important that we sit down and iron out this matter once and for all,” he added.

Geni slammed IEBC commissioners for their continued stay in office and termed them ‘greedy’ people who are ready to disintegrate the larger Kenyan community.

“We know what the law says but sometimes there comes a time when common sense surpasses individual needs," said Geni.

"The commissioners should stop being greedy for the sake of peace in this nation,” he said urging opposition to continue with the protests till government gives in.
