Moiben Member of Parliament Silas Tiren will on Tuesday issue a statement at the National Assembly over challenges farmers in the North Rift have been subjected to.
The MP who has been a strong defender of farmers rights is expected to give the statement at 6.30pm.
Through a post on his official Facebook page, Tiren said his statement will focus funds to purchase maize and distribution of subsidized fertilizer to farmers.
“Due to the seriousness of the issues affecting farmers, tomorrow the Speaker of National Assembly will interrupt the business of the house to allow me to table a statement on the provision of funds for the purchase of maize and distribution of fertilizers to farmers,” posted Tiren on Monday.
The MP further shared a copy of the National Parliament order paper on the same.
“Pursuant to the provision of standing order 43, the Speaker shall today at 6.30pm interrupt the business of the house to allow the following member to raise a matter of concern…” reads part of the document shared by Tiren.
This comes at a time farmers have been up in arms complaining over delayed payments of the maize delivered to the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) as well delay in distribution of the fertilized fertilizers.
