Kiambu Town MP Jude Njomo wants Kiambu County government to repair street and traffic lights that are not functioning.

Speaking to the press on Sunday, MP Njomo said that some of the street lights in the town stopped working weeks ago making it hard for those carrying out business at night to operate smoothly.

He said that the situation threatens security of those businessmen and residents who work until late hours.

“The county government should quickly repair street lights that have stopped working in Kiambu town. On the same note, the county government should deal with those who vandalise public property,” said Njomo.

Njomo said that many road signs in the town have been vandalised, a situation that has inconvenienced motorists and pedestrians while using roads.

He said, “Vandalism is a crime and that anyone found engaging in it must be dealt with accordingly.”

At the same time, MP Njomo called on the county government to a carry out a cleaning exercise in the town to make Kiambu town clean as one way of attracting more investors to the town.

He observed that most of the town’s streets are dirty and needs urgent cleaning to avert eruption of diseases. He added that the county collects levies from traders which should be used to keep the town clean.

The MP however, cautioned traders against throwing dirt anyhow and instead encouraged them use designated litter bins within the town and to work with county workers to restore cleanliness of the town.

He said that it is the reasonability of every citizen to promote a clean environment.
