An MP in Uasin Gishu has urged girls in schools to take advantage of the numerous support programmes to study and realise their career dreams.
Turbo MP Janet Sitienei said on Monday that both the government and private organisations, in the recent years, have rolled out many programs that support girls' studies and it's upon them to capitalise on the opportunities to prosper in future.
The first time MP said cases of Female Genital Mutilation still being reported in the constituency will be fought against as the practice has been overridden by events.
She said teenage girls in the constituency should avoid the cut.
"Don't get tired of knocking doors looking for opportunities," she said.
"Find time, come to my office and ask for help. Make use of the Constituency Development Fund and other funds that allocate money for fees," she said.
The MP represents a constituency in Uasin Gishu which is among counties that have of recent displayed splendid performance in national examinations.
