Machakos Township MP Victor Munyaka said Mutua's early campaigns will affect his work as a governor.

“Mutua has proved to be a leader who can lead this country but I wish to urge him to stop early 2022 campaigns to focus on developing the county first,” Munyaka said.

He addressed the press in Machakos town on Sunday.

Munyaka said the governor should appropriately utilize public funds to implement development projects in the county instead of using public resources to conduct political rallies and campaigns.

“Mutua should know it is Kenyans who vote, not the people of Machakos only. To become president, one needs support from all corners of this country. Let Mutua use the available resources to develop the county before he goes out to seek support from Kenyans and other leaders for his presidential ambitions,” Munyaka added.

He told Machakos MCAs not to fall into Mutua's tricks to allow him to swindle public funds meant for development in a bid of improving residents' living standards.
