An opposition lawmaker has slammed the Jubilee government for allegedly bribing voters ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati said the ruling party is buying supporters to attend its rallies in order to portray it as popular.
"Jubilee are bribing supporters with money and T-shirts to attend their rallies so that they can create an impression they are popular. We know they did so in Kajiado, Narok, Machakos and Tharaka Nithi.Their main targets are the opposition strongholds where the money given is slightly higher to so they change allegiance," he said.
Arati added that most of the Jubilee rallies are attended by only a few of their genuine supporters and a majority of bribed individuals.
"We are aware that the Jubilee party has been ferrying voters whom they have bribed and compromised to attend such rallies," he said.
Arati was speaking at a breakfast show on Radio Maisha on Thursday.
