This comes just days after President Uhuru Kenyatta told off Mr Odinga over the same.

Mr Oyioka said that the calls being championed by Mr Odinga in support of a referendum will fail terribly.

"Mr Odinga should concentrate on ensuring that every kenyan is united. After the last elections most kenyans were affected by chaos and now is not the time to politicize," he said.

He said that he supported the handshake between President Kenyatta and Mr Odinga knowing that it would bring peace in the country and not be a platform of increasing political temperatures.

Mr Oyioka called upon leaders from the region calling for a referendum to stop and instead focus on ensuring that Jubilee delivers its four agenda plan.

His sentiments come at a time when Deputy President William Ruto and President Kenyatta have opposed the calls to have a referendum.
