Lari MP Mburu Kahangara has called on security enforcers in the area to beef up surveillance and deal with instances of crime being reported.
Speaking after holding a security meeting with officials in his Lari office on Monday, the MP said that security of residents should be taken seriously.
The Lari legislator noted complaints from a section of residents and businessmen over insecurity.
“Security agencies must work around the clock and guarantee security of citizens and their property,” he said.
Kahangara further urged law enforcers to step up patrols and deal with petty criminals.
He said the government has invested heavily in security and it will be important for officers to provide the safety needed by the people.
The MP however urged residents to work with the police adding that security in the area will improve if residents work with law enforcers.
The Lari lawmaker reiterated the importance and need for embracing the Nyumba Kumi initiative saying that it will help reduce crime.
“We have been talking about Nyumba Kumi for a long time and it’s time for Lari residents to embrace the initiative for security to be guaranteed,” he said.
