Outa who held a peaceful demonstration at Ahero following night demolition of traders’ structures said the county government is collecting rates but not offering services.

The MP said there are no security lights at the market, no watchmen, no toilets, no running water and waste continue to pile up at the market.

“My people are being tax to death yet there are getting nothing in return. They do businesses in very pathetic condition, we want services,” he said.

He ordered the traders not to pay the rates today since it was market day and warned the county government to brace for tougher times ahead if no proper service delivery.

Outa later led the peaceful demonstrators to the sub county administrator Dr Samuel Oron and told him to explain to the people of Ahero who lost their valuables in the demolition when they will be compensated.

He said most of the women and youth whose structures were demolished and property stolen in the last nigh demolition had just applied for Uwezo funds.

“I disbursed the Uwezo funds just the other month and my people were setting up different businesses, which have been destroyed by the county government,” he said.

The MP said it will be very difficult for such people to repay the Uwezo funds and called upon Governor Jack Ranguma to move in and offer compensation to the affected traders.
