Kathiani MP Robert Mbui has threatened to lead demonstrations against a road contractor in his constituency.
Mbui said he will lead Mitaboni residents to stage demonstrations to protest the poor work being done by the contractor constructing the Kenol-Kathiani Road.
He said they will block the busy Nairobi-Mombasa Highway during the protests to express their anger against the contractor.
The MP addressed the press in Kathiani on Wednesday.
Mbui said the contractor was taking the locals for a ride by offering them poor services.
He said he will personally lead the demonstrations that will paralyze transport on Mombasa road if the contractor fails to improve on his work.
"Mombasa road is the most used road and if we hold demos there and close it, I know even the president will know,", Mbui said.Mbui said the road would not last even for four years the way it is being constructed."This road will need repair by 2022 if we fail to raise our voices and demand quality work from the contractor," Mbui added. The MP said together with the residents, he will hold a meeting with the road's engineer to officially launch their complaints and get his comments on the shoddy job.
