Moiben Member of Parliament Silas Tiren has hit out at millers who have increased maize flour prices from the previous sh90 for a 2-kilogram packet.

The MP says millers are not being truthful for their move since they still have a stock of maize they bought from the government's subsidized program.

Speaking in Eldoret on Monday, Tiren threatened to make public all millers who still have subsidized maize in their stores yet they have increased Unga prices.

He said the previous price should remain until at least the end of January when the stock of the subsidized maize is exhausted.

"We have records of how many bags each of the millers has bought from the government on the subsided price and if need be we shall make it public so that Kenyans can know which millers are for them and which ones are after their own interests," said Tiren who is the Agriculture Committee chairman at the National Assembly.

"For millers to increase Unga prices right away is not right because they are still using subsidized maize and they should stop cheating Kenyans and do the right thing," he added.
