Likuyani Member of Parliament Dr. Enock Kibunguchy has threatened to take legal actions against President Uhuru Kenyatta if he fails to include 8 women in his cabinet.
The NASA allied MP said he would move to court to challenge President Kenyatta's cabinet should it fail to attain the constitution gender threshold.
Speaking in Eldoret on Monday, Kibunguchy expressed concerns over the president's failure to include a single woman in 9 cabinet secretaries named on Friday.
"The constitution is very clear over the gender representation issue and I expect the president to appoint seven or eight women in his cabinet," noted Dr. Kibunguchy.
"I am just waiting for the president to unveil his full cabinet and if it will fall short of the constitutional threshold then I will move to court seeking orders to declare the appointments unconstitutional," he added.
President Kenyatta on Friday announced a partial cabinet that comprised of men only where he retained Henry Rotich (Treasury), Najib Balala (Tourism), James Macharia (Transport), Dr. Fred Matiang'i (Interior), Charles Keter (Energy) and Joe Mucheru (ICT).
Former Turkana Senator John Munyes, former Marsabit Governor Ukur Yattani and Keriako Tobiko who resigned as Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) were also nominated for CS positions that the head of state did not disclose but said their names had been forwarded to Parliament for vetting and approval.
