A visibly drunk Borabu MP Ben Momanyi was forcefully ejected from the stage on Saturday night during the celebrations hosted by Royal Media’s Egesa FM at Winds park Hotel.
Trouble started when the Wiper Mp took to the stage as one of the invited leaders to the event but hijacked the event to ‘lecture’ Kisii Governor James Ongwae who was absent from the event.
However, Pro-Ongwae audience started hauling insults and stones at the MP accusing him of politicising a social event before he was hurriedly whisked out by the security team for his own safety.
Kisii County Chief Cultural officer Obina Nyambane condemned the incident and challenged the legislator to apologise to the community for ‘improper conduct’.
“I am equally surprised that a leader of Momanyi’s caliber can behave badly in front of the people who admire him so much," said Nyambane.
"He cannot abuse other leaders yet the event wasn’t political. As a member of Kisii team, I would like to challenge him to apologise for improper conduct,” he added.
But Momanyi who spoke to us, later on, accused the organisers of ‘intimidations’ and insisted that the event was the right channel to air his grievances on the controversy surrounding Keroka market.
“I was ambushed from the stage simply because I said what was in my mind. My conduct was proper because I had to speak what our people at Keroka are going through,” Momanyi said.
“Ongwae is an impediment to peace in Keroka. He must concede that the town belongs to Nyamira and promote peace. I cannot be simply intimidated when I speak my mind,” he said.
