Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo is tipped to take over from former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar as Wiper Party’s point-man in Mombasa. Mbogo who won the Kisauni seat on a Wiper party ticket in the recently concluded August polls is seen as a loyalist who is the perfect replacement for Omar. The MP has already hit the ground running conducting campaigns for NASA in Mombasa ahead of repeat presidential election.Mbogo has vowed to ensure NASA leader Raila Odinga scoops all the votes in the constituency during the October 17 repeat presidential poll.Sources quoted by the Star said Mbogo might be proposed to replace Omar as the Wiper secretary general, adding that the party’s top leadership is considering him for a big position. However, Mbogo on Friday said he is not aware of such plans, adding that his agenda is to work tirelessly for the people and ensure they get quality services."My key focus is to work for Kisauni locals and ensure they get quality services," said Mbogo, as quoted by the daily. The MP is said to enjoy a cordial relationship with NASA principals Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka.Omar’s exit as Wiper party SG and point man in Mombasa is likely to give Mbogo a chance to represent the party interests in the county that is considered an ODM stronghold.Omar resigned as Wiper secretary general last week claiming that the party undermined him leading to his loss in the Mombasa governor race. The former senator who unsuccessfully contested for the Mombasa governor seat has filed a petition challenging Governor Hassan Joho's re-election.
