Moiben Member of Parliament Silas Tiren has told off Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who had on Sunday claimed Baringo Senator Gideon Moi was blocking some leaders from visiting retired President Daniel Moi.
Addressing a media briefing in Eldoret town on Monday, Tiren challenged Murkomen to go visit Mzee Moi if he wants to and “stop engaging in cheap propaganda".
Murkomen had told Tiren to ask Senator Moi to stop blocking other leaders from visiting the former head of state.
The Senate leader of the majority had also asked MP Tiren to help him secure an appointment to meet Mzee Moi.
“Between me and Murkomen who should be taking the other to Mzee Moi? The two meet on a daily basis while at the Senate and it's therefore much easier for him to get an appointment to visit Mzee,” noted Tiren.
“If Murkomen want to visit the retired President, let him take the press with him so that if he is blocked at the gate everyone will see instead of treating us to mere political gimmicks,” he added.
The Jubilee MP, however, refuted claims that he accompanied opposition Chief Raila Odinga during the visit saying, “I presented my request to visit Moi and it was accepted. I went there alone but then when I later saw Odinga also visiting I couldn’t stay away from being part of this handshake thing.”
