West Mugirango MP James Gesami has dismissed Deputy President William Ruto’s unending trips to opposition strongholds as a waste of time and insisted that they will not yield fruits.
The DP has been traversing the Western, Nyanza and Coastal regions which traditionally have been supporting opposition leader Raila Odinga and even managed to have a number of MPs joining the newly launched Jubilee Party.
And now Gesami says the regions are still intact in the opposition, noting that Ruto should instead focus on putting his Rift Valley house in order.
“The DP is wasting resources by visiting opposition strongholds. These regions are intact despite the few people turning up for his rallies in our strongholds. We are optimistic that in the end, we will retain our territories,” Gesami told this writer on the phone.
“He should focus on putting his Rift Valley house in order even as we plan to invade it as the opposition. I am pretty sure that the ODM is strong and indomitable,” he added.
Gesami at the same time dismissed the defections in the opposition strongholds, terming them as ‘political theatrics and insisted that the MPs responsible would lose in the 2017 polls.
“Those are mere political theatrics because I am quite sure that they will lose in the elections. They are less popular and those were just the last kicks of a dying horse,” he said.
