Bodaboda riders in Kikuyu will have a reason to smile, after area Member of Parliament Ichungwa Kimani included them in a Sh10 million funds distributed for both bursary and driving school programmes.
The MP said that bodaboda operators had a reason to undertake driving classes to minimize the number of accidents in the Sub-county, which was becoming rampant.
He said that according to the police sources, cases of accidents involving inexperienced bodaboda operators has increased, and thus urgency had to be taken serious to help tame the unnecessary deaths.
Ichungwa, who was speaking on Wednesday in Kikuyu town, also revealed that he has plans to construct them a bodaboda shade to help them boost their services, bearing in mind unemployment is a major cancer in the country.
He warned the cyclists that if found with unlicensed motorbikes, they will face the rule of law, which will be more vigilant on them after the driving school programmes is achieved.
He added that plans are underway in construction of roads in the region, and he has as well set aside funds to construct bodaboda road, which will not be the same as vehicle roads.
The legislator further intimated that he is laying foundation for a new ultramodern Sanctuary PCEA church in Musagitau region, and urged parents to encourage their children to volunteer in the construction of the church.
The law maker has called well-wishers to come join hands to diminish the rates of road accidents in the area, which is slowly taking control of the town.
