The MP said that the problem has to be addressed and spoke of her plans to end it since it has been affecting the children’s education for years.

Speaking at Thika ACK Church during the thanksgiving ceremony of the Hospital Ward MCA on Sunday, Ng’ang’a said that she plans to partner with several organisations to support girl-child education in her constituency.

“I understand that some areas have been affected by these problems for long and we have plans to ensure their education is not disrupted. We have partnered with several NGOs and well-wishers to start an initiative that will see these children live a better life as they study,” the MP said.

She added that the children affected by jiggers, poverty, lack of sanitary pads among other problems will benefit soon from the special programmes set by her office.

The Ahadi Kenya group has been the latest to pay a visit to Gachagi slums in Makongeni as a step in delivering the MP’s campaign promise of ending the jiggers’ problem in the area.

Ng’anga says that the initiatives will continue to ensure that the girl child’s needs are taken care of.
