The lawmaker stated that many people have gone blind due to lack of proper medical care.

“We have several people not only in Thika but also across the country who have gone blind because they have limited access to eye specialists.

"For this reason, I will procure at least 5 acres of land to help in setting up an eye hospital within Thika to help my constituents to get eye treatment in good time to ensure no one goes blind due to lack of proper medical attention,” he said.

He also promised that throughout his tenure he will ensure cancer, diabetes and kidney treatment is affordable to his constituents by setting up health facilities close to the people.

He challenged residents to visit health centers to be screened so that they can get good treatment when the ailments are at early stages.

“Locals should stop shying away from visiting the hospitals to be screened against diseases. Screening of diseases such as cancer these days is done free and it is a challenge for the locals to avail themselves at health centers to be screened,” he added.

He was speaking in Thika town on Friday.
