Nyando MP Fred Outa has called for the nurturing of talent among young people in Kisumu County.
Outa who is eying for the Kisumu Senatorial seat in the August polls has promised to push for the construction of a convention theater in the lakeside city.
He said there is talent among young people in the region that needs to be harnessed.
"Young people must be supported, nurtured to define their talents, the raw talents must be refined, we need more Lupita’s in this area," he said.
The MP said the theatre will offer the youth facilities to engage in positive activities to keep them busy and instill discipline so that they will not engage in bad activities.
Speaking in Kisumu on Friday night when he hosted Poetic Hour group, Outa said he is optimistic that the lakeside city will provide gainful engagements in viable activities among the youth.
The organizer of Poetic Hour, Bovince Ochieng lauded the recognition Outa's intervention.
Ochieng said Kisumu as a major city in Western region should be in the forefront to set up a theater centre to enable the youth to nurture their talents.
"As young people we will identify with leaders who come to address our plight and to this end I want to say thank you to Hon Outa for standing up to drive our talent industry," he said.
