Ugunja Member of Parliament Opiyo Wandayi has warned Siaya residents against disrupting President Uhuru Kenyatta's tour of the county slated for Thursday.
Wandayi said the President should not be heckled but instead should be given a rousing welcome in the area that is the National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga’s home county.
"Those planning to cause violence should stay home and use that energy to vote in the August 8 poll," he said.
The legislator was further quoted by the Star: “It will be of no meaning to heckle Uhuru in Siaya and you don’t turn out to vote. You will not have helped Raila and NASA.”
Speaking at Rambula in Ugunja during a campaign rally, Wandayi told residents that the Jubilee Party candidate has every democratic right to visit anywhere in the country to seek votes for his reelection campaign.
"It is not a political offence to listen to Uhuru even if you don't support him. Go and listen to him but remember where your vote belongs," the MP said on Sunday.
About two ago, Raila was forced to cut short his campaigns when he visited President Kenyatta’s Kiambu backyard.
This is after hostile crowds at various stopovers heckled and stoned his motorcade.
The ODM leader was accompanied by ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama and Ruaraka MP Tom Kajwang.
