As the abolishment of school ranking in the national examinations continue to draw varied reactions, an MP says he will table a motion on the same when Parliament resumes in February.
Elijah Lang'at, the Chemusei legislator who was speaking in Eldoret town on Tuesday said that the motion will be seeking to lift the ban on schools’ ranking.
"Teachers and students will now go to a relaxed mode because competitions will take a backseat," said Lang'at.
"On resumption, that will be my first agenda. I have been encouraging students and teachers in my area to make our schools the best nationally. How will they do this now without the ranking?" he wondered.
The legislator said that performance in both primary and secondary schools will go down.
Some educationists have however said that the abolishment of ranking is a good move that has promoted a healthy debate on the way to go in as far as the Kenyan education system is concerned.
