Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi has exuded confidence that Former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has what it takes to ascend to power without the support of National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate in the August 2017 elections, Raila Amolo Odinga.
Speaking on Saturday, the lawmaker divulged that the Ukambani political kingpin is strong enough to mount a powerful campaign that will see him ascend to power when that time comes.
He argued that the Wiper Party Leader has supported so many candidates in the past, adding that time has come for him to go for the nation’s top seat.
“Kalonzo has asked for this seat for a long time. We’ll support him to be the flagbearer in a coalition that will be formed. If there will be no coalition, Kalonzo is man enough to run alone” he said as quoted by Kenyans.co.ke.
He also said that all the leaders from Ukambani will rally the community behind him if he opts to go for the seat in 2022.
"Kalonzo is man enough to run alone. He will win. All Kambas will support him, even those who defected as there will be no option,” he added.
His remarks come barely a week after Kalonzo jetted back into the country from Germany where he had taken his wife Pauline for treatment.
