Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has asked boda boda operators from the constituency to form groups and apply for government development funds.
Addressing boda boda operators on Thursday while touring Gatundu constituency at Kinyango, the MP said that government has set aside funds meant to empower business people especially youths.
He stated that the Uwezo Fund is tailor made to support youths, women and disabled persons better their lives, adding that the sector has created a lot of job opportunities for the youth.
“I want to encourage you (boda boda operators) to seek development funds and better your businesses,” he said.
Kuria said he will work closely with county government to ensure youth benefit from development projects, observing that he represents the interest and welfare of young people and asked them to present their grievances.
He noted that time has come for the young people to take charge of the county; saying that leaders who have failed to represent the people should be kicked out come to 2017.
“You need leaders who are ready and willing to present your grievances to the highest office,” he said.
Kuria further urged boda boda operators to support the county government on matters development, saying Governor William Kabogo is keen to create job opportunities for unemployed youths, but asked them to be pro-active.
“I can assure you that Governor Kabogo is working on ways that will address your problems,” said Kuria.
