A Nyamira member of Parliament now wants Governor John Nyagarama to ‘soften’ his stand and engage them in dialogue in developing the region.
At least all elected MPs, apart from Borabu’s Ben Momanyi, have been engaging in divergent ideologies over the management of county resources, accusing Mr Nyagarama of corruption and incompetence.
But on Friday during Mr Raila Odinga’s visit to the county, North Mugirango MP Charles Geni challenged the Nyagarama to be flexible and allow dialogue to chart the way forward for the county.
“I want to tell our Governor that as MPs from this county, we are not fighting you at all. All we want is dialogue so that we can chart the best way forward for our county. We cannot forever treat each other as enemies and as leaders, we want to engage you over the same,” he said.
“We want development at the grassroots and you cannot continue doing this on your own. It’s important that we have dialogue and discuss development agenda for our people. That is important and it’s my wish as well,” he said.
However, Mr Nyagarama avoided responding directly to the request during the ODM rally at the County assembly grounds and Nyamaiya, but insisted that he was ready to work with all leaders.
The differences between the governor and MPs played a central role during Mr Odinga’s visit, with the Governor organising for another parallel venue in Nyamaiya stadium other than that was organised by Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire and his West Mugirango counterpart James Gesami without consulting them.
