Mavoko MP Patrick Makau has called on all residents of Eastern Kenya Region to emulate those from Katani location and live in peace, love and unity to spur development in the region.

Addressing press in Katani on Tuesday, Makau said that Katani is cosmopolitan with all the 42 Kenyan tribes living together and harmoniously as brothers and sisters.

Makau argued that peaceful and harmonious coexistence among the Katani residents was a motivation not only to locals from Machakos County, but the country at large.

He argued that there was no need for societal conflicts based on tribalism, clanism or others, arguing all Kenyans should be united with preach of peace love and harmony among them.

The legislature said the constitution gives all Kenyans equal rights to live or settle in any part of the nation without putting into consideration the tribal backgrounds.

Makau argued that eastern residents would advance in terms of development hence improved livelihoods, if they emulated the Katani residents to peacefully coexist.

He said tribal and communal differences exposed residents to unnecessary insecurity, creating fear in credible investments and high costs of doing business.

The MP said he would do everything possible to ensure he brought leaders from entire Eastern region together for unity of purpose, solemnly for best interest of common residents.
