Lamu West MP Stanley Muthama has called upon leaders of his county, Garissa and Tana River to preach peace among the residents amid the ongoing Operation Linda Boni.

According to a local daily, the lawmaker said that the three counties face similar challenges including insecurity, adding that there is a need for them to work together in order to realize the development goals.

Addressing the press in Lamu, the legislator said that he has no doubt that unity among the residents of the region will boost the fight against terror attacks.

He noted that the ongoing operation to flush out suspected Al Shabaab militia from Boni Forest has continued to face different challenges, adding that the community has a role to play if success has to be attained.

He further said that security related issues will be a thing of the past if the communities in the three counties agree to work together.

The remarks of the lawmaker come after leaders from the three counties held a meeting in Malindi as they sought to find long-lasting solutions to the problems facing their people.
