The MP said that Garissa County was the most affected by double registration of persons since it hosts the biggest refugee camps.

Speaking on Wednesday in Garissa during a workshop organised by a task force on the double registration of Kenyans, Dahiye said that many Kenyans especially those from Garissa County have been arrested and even jailed.

He said this is not because they are not Kenyans but because there was an error and they ended up doing what is called double registrations.

"This problem has in a number of ways opened new routes of corruption whereby those who are arrested end up bribing their way out. The cartels dealing with the issue are making millions from the refugees," Dahiye said.

Dahiye added, "More than 50,000 people from Garissa County have been affected. The government should do something to curb the growing trend which is also affecting our security docket in a number of ways," Dahiye said.
