Bahati MP, Kimani Ngunjiri, has urged the government to revive ailing pyrethrum sub sector from collapsing .

Speaking on Friday at Thayu / Kabatini location during a development tour, Ngunjiri said that pyrethrum is an important cash crop that has changed peoples lives, hence need of paying much attention. 

|"Pyrethrum is our cash crop the county government should do every thing to revive it,” said Ngunjiri.

The sub sector has in the recent years been ailing due to poor management leading to non-payment to farmers .

Ngunjiri urged farmers not to uproot the cash crop but be patient as they await for government's changes in the sector.

“Farmers should not loose patience in the pyrethrum because the government will put in place better policies to help in reviving the sector,” said Ngunjiri.

He said that pyrethrum farming has been the backbone of economic generation among the residents and urged them to step up their effort to fight unemployment among youth .

“I urge youth and women to embrace pyrethrum farming to help in improving your livelihood,” said the lawmaker.

Pyrethrum farming is among the cash crop that performs well in the region and contributes to the generation of wealth .

The legislator was accompanied by national and county agricultural officers who urged the residents to improve the production of the cash crop.
