Lamu Woman Representative Shakila Abdalla has called upon the Independent Boundaries and Electoral Commission (IEBC) to test its Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) kits ahead of the August election.

According to Abdalla, the testing of the kits will prevent cases of malfunction, which she termed as a recipe for rigging.

She also said the commission has to ensure it conducts free and fair elections to win the faith of Kenyans.

The legislator added that the electoral commission should test the kits at least 10 times before the forthcoming polls.

“We do not want to see a scenario of machines failing during the election. This will affect the credibility of the outcome,” she said, as quoted by The Star.

Abdalla also said Kenyans are keen on selecting the best leaders, adding that they are not ready to accept rigged polls.

She further said the Coast region is behind the National Super Alliance (NASA).
