Kikuyu lawmaker Kimani Ichungwa has called on leaders in Kiambu County to focus on development and improve people’s living standards.
Speaking in Kikuyu town on Sunday, the MP said that leaders have a responsibility to ensure socio-economic challenges facing the people are addressed.
The MP further stated that Kenyans are eager to receive services yet their leaders are busy politicking.
“I want to ask Kiambu leaders to ensure they address issues facing the people and stop concentrating of politics,” said Ichungwa.
The lawmaker observed that its two years since leaders were elected to office yet most of them have not settled down.
Ichungwa said continuous politicking will not address people’s concerns and that leaders should use the remaining time in office to work for Kenyans.
He then asked the county government to initiate projects that will benefit the people adding that the county has adequate resources.
The MP, who inspected road construction in the constituency, said he is working with the county and the national governments to promote development.
Ichungwa said the constituency has enough funds, which have been channeled to various development projects including bursary allocations.
He urged area MCAs to support his development agenda by passing laws and policies, which will benefit the people.
