Mandera East MP Omar Mohamed Maalim has urged Mandera locals to remain peaceful ahead of the repeat of presidential election slated for tomorrow.
The lawmaker accused opposition for calling on Kenyans to boycott the election saying it is unconstitutional to block voters from exercising their democratic rights.
“I urge county residents to ignore opposition and remain peaceful during this electioneering period ahead of the repeat presidential election", he said.
Maalim, the first time MP who was elected on August 8 on Economic Freedom Party, an affiliate party of Jubilee said residents will come out in large numbers to vote for President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“We voted for President Uhuru Kenyatta on August 8 and nothing is going to stop us from doing so again. NASA's boycott calls won't succeed” ,he said.He said political wrangles in the county will expose the area to terrorist activities.
“Mandera deserves development and not chaos. Politics of division will hurt the county and the country at large,” Maalim said.
