West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi has called on security agencies in Nyamira county to beef up security in the region to ensure there is peace as New Year approaches.

The lawmaker said county commissioner Isaiah Nakoru should deploy more officers along the border of Bomet, Kericho and Kisumu to prevent any attempt of cattle rustling.

“The county has experienced cattle theft in the recent days. As we approach New Year, police should help protect our people and their property,” he said.

He challenged Nyamira county government led by governor John Nyagarama to work closely with national government to end cattle rustling in the region.

“County government should work with national government to tame the vice in the county because security is not a devolved function,” he added.

He said political leaders should not incite communities to clash due to their selfish interests.

“Any leader who lost in the August 8 polls should not incite people to fight because there is still a chance for the losers to contest in 2022,” he noted.
