Kilome MP Regina Ndambuki has urged Machakos women to apply for the development funds that are available in the county to help them grow economically.
While addressing women groups on Monday in Machakos town, Ndambuki said that women should ensure that they make good use of the funds which are set aside for them, saying they are the key pillars when it comes to development.
“There are a number of development funds which are set aside only for women. You should form groups and request for such funds, which will enable you to start small businesses that will help you economically,” said Ndambuki.
The MP congratulated women for having formed and registered their groups, but went ahead and told them that they needed to apply for funds.
“The funds will not come to you just like that, you need to make a step and go ahead and apply for such funds. Am currently in talks with the national government to ensure that by the end of February, you should all have been educated about the funds and also how to apply for such funds,” she said.
The MP went ahead and urged the county government of Machakos to ensure that it organizes workshops for women with the aim of educating them, and also instilling the fund knowledge in them.
“The only problem that you have is that you do not apply for the loans. I urge the county government to teach you and also show you on how to apply for loans and also to involve you in the projects that are geared towards developments,” added Ndambuki.
