Kilome Constituency Member of Parliament Regina Ndambuki has encouraged women in the Constituency to seek development funds and improve their living standards.
Addressing residents when she inspected development projects on Saturday, the MP raised concerns over low number of women seeking development funds.
She said that women have been reluctant to seek development funds adding that the situation has seen the Constituency remain poor.
“Kilome women should come forward and seek state development funds to realise development in this area,” urged Ndambuki.
Ndambuki said that women in the Constituency will remain under poverty chains unless they think twice and start applying for state funds like Uwezo Funds.
The MP also asked women from her Constituency to come out and work with the county government on development issues.
Ndambuki said that Machakos County government has put in place strategies meant to improve the living standards of women and youths.
Meanwhile, the Kilome MP wants the county government to improve state of roads in the area claiming that most roads are in poor state and that they require urgent repair and renovation.
She said that improving infrastructure will enable businessmen and residents to conduct their activities without being inconvenienced.
Ndambuki pledged to pressure the county government to fulfil development pledges it made to the people.
She said that effective service delivery should be the focus of every elected leader in the county and across the country.
