Ainabkoi Member of Parliament William Chepkut has said he will lobby other legislators to ensure that Moiben MP Silas Tiren is retained as agriculture committee chairman. He said Tiren has what it takes to head the committee since he has the plight of farmers at heart. "As leaders from this region we are behind him and we will use all means to ensure he is not removed from the position. I will lobby both Jubilee and NASA MP's to support him," he said in Eldoret town, Sunday."How can someone from North Eastern be given the position yet he does not know the problems farmers are facing, I think there is something wrong somewhere," he added. He, however, urged the Jubilee party to allow him to remain the chair of the National Assembly Agriculture Committee."Tiren is a farmer and understands what farmers go through from planting to harvesting and what needs to be done to improve their yields," noted Chepkut.
